About Us

This unique agency was set up in 2002 by ex-PR consultant Caroline Cooke. She and her husband were looking for an after school nanny for their daughter and found the choice very limited so decided to start After School Nannies. After the birth of her second child Caroline wanted to spend more time with the children and in July 2006 the agency was taken over by Elizabeth Rackow, mother of three and ex-television executive:

“I strongly believe that after school care should not be seen as a tag-on to the end of the school day. The hours between school finishing and bedtime have to fulfil so many functions; happy, secure “wind-down” time, re-fuelling with good, nourishing food, structure and discipline for homework, music practice, reading and above all a loving and comforting environment for the child to share any concerns or worries from their day. As a mother, I would choose care in the home after school every time for my children over and above any other options. At After School Nannies we are driven by that ethos and strive to provide families with someone who can literally be in loco parentis.”
